HENLEY AND DISTRICT SNOOKER LEAGUE


ETIQUETTE / GENERAL
1. Captains should ask all players to have phones on silent for duration of match
2.all players should be present for start of match.
3.referees should carry out task properly, not stand by scoreboard all game
4.if players need to leave the room during game the referee should be informed
5.if drinks are needed a non playing team member should fetch them
6.team captains should inform all players for breaches of etiquette
7. All registered players to supply a phone number.
8. Only players registered for the previous season will be able to vote on rule changes.
9. Any grievance an individual or club has with the league must be taken up with the committee and not aired publicly on social media. Any deviation from this may result in the individual or team being barred from the league.




SNOOKER RULES

1. Clubs to register teams before the season begins by a date advised by the secretary and any players must be members of that club.

2. Surplus players can be registered as reserves

3. After season starting, new players can only be registered at halfway point (cut off date advised by the secretary). Players with an asterisk after their name are new to the league and their handicaps will be reviewed during the season (normally at the half way stage) players with a double asterisk have been registered late and can compete for the second half of the season. In exceptional circumstances only, the committee may permit a player registration outside of this timescale.

4. Teams to consist of 4 players, each player playing two frames which will be drawn at random.

5. Teams can utilise a reserve as often as necessary, and where there are more than one team at a club, a reserve can play for either team, but may only play for one team per week and once a reserve has played for a particular team in a cup match, they are then cup tied to that team.

6. Order of play to be determined by home team

7. If a team can only field 3 players, they will lose the two frames not played and they score will be recorded as 50 -0 for each frame.

8. Each winning frame will score one point.

8a With effect from the 2024 season, no aggregate point will be awarded for league games, and therefore it is possible for a game to end in a draw. The aggregate point will still be applicable to the Bob Munday Cup Fixtures and if teams are tied at 4-4 there will be a ninth frame decider. The captain of each team must nominate their player who will play a deciding frame if required BEFORE any play commences.

9. Players to play off their allocated handicaps which will be based on previous years results and be distributed to team captains ahead of the season by the secretary

10. New players to play off a provisional handicap assessed by the committee and their captain, if in the view of the committee a provisional handicap is shown to be wholly inappropriate, they may revise it with immediate effect

11. Handicaps to be reviewed at the end of each season

12. New player handicaps shall be reviewed at halfway point in the season

13. A match card should be used to record players surnames and breaks of 30 and over and result sent to fixture secretary that day on the group messenger chat.

14. Matches to start at the appointed time and play should be continuous, if for any reason play is delayed for an extended time, the offending player can be liable to forfeit the game

15. Where a team only have two players, the match is treated as not played and the secretary should be informed immediately. Matches not played should be re-arranged and played within 14 days. Failure to comply will render the offending team receiving no match points and opponents receive their average home or away points scored over the whole season

16. The team scoring most points shall be declared the league champions and in the event of a tie, the team scoring the most match wins will be declared the winners.

17. In the event of two of more teams finishing with equal points, the number of league points scored against the teams concerned shall be taken into account

18. If teams cannot be separated using rule 17, then a play off at a neutral venue will take place.


THE BOB MUNDAY CUP

A team knockout competition open to Division 1 and Division 2 and all games will be played using current league handicaps. Should the match end in a 4-4 draw, the winners will be decided by the team with the highest overall aggregate points as per league matches.

19. If a reserve is used they cannot play for any other team in the cup competition

20. If an earlier start time is necessary, captains should inform their players to ensure the time is adhered to

21. For Final's night, where multiple matches are being played, play with be according to the schedule drawn up by the organising committee member(s) before the start of play, and be on a roll off, roll on basis, ie no waiting for a specific table

22. The Committee to arrange neutral referees for final

SNOOKER SINGLES HANDICAP COMPETITION

23. All matches are best of 3 frames.

24. All entrants to be registered players at the start of the season

25. First named player shall be deemed to be the home player.

26. Home player to arrange match giving opponent sufficient time to play the match by the due date.

27. Failure to organise a match will result in the away player being awarded the match, unless the committee feels that the home player has made every effort to arrange the match, and in the case the home player will be awarded the match.

28.Home players must arrange a referee for match. If the home player fails to secure a referee, they must inform the away player and the away player can, if they wish bring a referee. If both players are in agreement, they can play without a referee. The away player however still has the option to claim the game if a referee cannot be secured.

29. All players to play off league handicaps.

30. Secretary to be informed of match results immediately after completion

DOUBLES COMPETITION

24.Player handicaps to be added together then halved (rounded down) to give pairs handicap

25. All rules 23-30 apply
