New advertising banners

Have spotted these are now shown on every page within every league on the site.
Over the weekend i am sure that they were at the bottom of each page - but now they have been moved to a highly visible position just below the menu options.

I know its not my site, but as I indirectly contribute (via League Match fees) to the site I feel I am entitled to an opinion:

THESE LOOK TERRIBLE.

The layout of the site is great, the tables are laid out simply and clearly, the choice of fonts and colours compliment each other. That is until these disgusting google ads are plonked in right in front of your eyes.

I have had a scan through some of the Leagues, and there does seem to be some selective process that determines which adverts are shown for each league. I am not sure the selection is based upon, but the Bishop's Stortford League must have loads of older members as its the only one advertising Residential Homes.
On the Cambridge site there is a dating agency advertised - but it goes one better on Leamington - there is not only a link for a dating agency, but also a couple for Hotels to complete your passionate encounter - a double whammy if ever there was one.

Is it just me, or do others share my views?

I agree Graham, this is the first time I've been on for a few days, and I cannot believe they are shoved right in the middle of it all now. I'd never noticed them at the bottom of the page before, which is why I'm assuming they were shoved right in the middle of everything now. It does look terrible, and hope something can be done to get rid of them.

Richard, is this something you can control, or is it out of your control?

Have to agree chaps. The site and usability is superb but the advertising placed bang in the middle is VERY intrusive. I was on earlier in the weekend and noticed them at the bottom but felt it wasn't too bad. Now.......................

Rich, I appreciate it may make a bit of extra cash but it looks really bad when compared to the clean look previously.
