----- Week 9 RoundUp (5th/6th Nov) -----

Premier Division

With the leaders, Stourbridge Institute, having a bye, there was the opportunity for the chasing pack to move a little closer to them, but they suffered mixed fortunes.

Pockets SC A needed to win to move back to the top of the league outright, having been the only team to date to have lowered the colours of Stourbridge Institute, but they went 2-0 down on the tables of Baggeridge Social B at the hands of Luke Whale & Ryan Evans. The unbeaten pair, Neil Gilder and Andy Smith, who had a break of 54, made it 2-2, but Matthew Whale beat Gary Smith in the decider for the hosts, and they themselves lie in 6th place, 8 points off the top.

Baggeridge’s A team remained in 3rd place, 5 points off the pace, having won 4-1 away to Bearwood Cons. Jamie Spence and James Hill both won, taking their records to 7/8, but Chris Whitehouse did extremely well to pick up a point for Bearwood with a black ball success against Bal Sembi.

Hotshots SC returned to winning form, easing into 4th position with a 4-1 success at home to Amblecote Institute D, the highlight being a break of 53 by Hasan Hussain, but Simon Dingley salvaged a valuable point for the visitors on the final black against Sam Robbins.

Kinver Constitutional A won again, 4-1 at home to Townsend Social, and they’re 7 points off the top with a match in hand. Lee Mallen retained his unbeaten record, and there were wins for Paul Garbett, Jim Woodhouse & Gavin Sloan, with David Thompson taking a consolation frame for the visiting team.

St John’s Social did well to come away from in-form Amblecote Institute A with a 4-1 win. Tim Steele had a break of 43 in the opening frame and Steve Jones, Martin Coffey & Mick Brezwyn made it 4-0 although Nick Carson just missed out against the consistent Jon Wellings in the last frame.

Amblecote’s B team just missed out in a tight match on the tables of Norton Social A, Although Sam Harrison and Alan Moore won, the home team edged it 3-2, thanks to Andrew Brown, Paul Bowen and Steve Tsang.

Finally, Pockets SC B began really well at home against Kinver’s B team when Jamie Shuck and Darren Bott won the opening frames decisively before Tony Kidd made sure of the win. Keith Rollinson and Mark Dowler then ensured that Kinver gained some consolation.

First Division

Kinver Constitutional C’s outstanding start to the season got even better when they took all five frames away to Kingswinford Club B. Adam Sprague, with a break of 45, Tom Postings and Les Cross all won, but Steve Nicholls and Ryan Bridgewood did particularly well to defeat Wayne Whitmore and Steve Mason respectively, albeit with little to spare, and the team moved seven points clear at the top of the league.

Their closest challengers, Amblecote Royal British Legion, visited Kinver E and came away with a 3-2 victory, thanks to Sam, Jack and Brett Ball before Scott Taylor and Phil Dunn, yet again on the final black, hit back for the hosts.

The 3rd and 4th placed teams both recorded 4-1 wins. Stourbridge Institute A beat Kingswinford A at home, with Jon Saunders extending his winning sequence to 7/8, while Kinver’s D team, on adjacent tables, beat the Institute’s D team although all frame scores were very close. After 8 matches, however, the teams are a long-looking 11 points off the pace being set by the leaders.

In a rearranged match, Kingswinford A beat Amblecote Institute C 3-2 in a tight affair, which went to a re-spotted black decider. Tom Male and John Cowan had won for K’ford and Alan Jeffries and Mitch Skidmore had made it 2-2, before Dave Reece potted that final black against Colin Homer.

----- Week 8 RoundUp (29th/30th Oct) -----

Premier Division

Bidding for their 5th successive championship, Stourbridge Institute were in top form against Norton Social A, taking all five frames. Ash Sidaway gave them a fine start with a break of 67, and Ash Aston, Dave Oakes, Karl Ashmore and Justin Donoghue all won with reasonable comfort and they have opened up a two point lead at the top, as their closest challengers, Pockets SC A were held to a 3-2 win at home to Hotshots SC.

Andy Smith, still yet to lose a frame, and Tom Pepperall gave Pockets a flying start, but the visitors levelled thanks to Hasib Hussain and Sam Robbins, who beat Gary Smith on the black. With a break of 63 in the decider against Hasan Hussain, Neil Gilder made sure that Pockets at least kept the leaders within their sights.

Hotshots’ defeat enabled Baggeridge Social A to assume third place, 10 points off the top, but with a game in hand, by courtesy of a 4-1 success at home to Pockets SC B. Dave Hall, Jamie Spence, with the help of a fortunate pink to beat Darren Bott, Bal Sembi, and James Hill, who cleared the last six reds for a break of 46, won for the hosts with Jamie Shuck gaining some consolation for the visitors.

Baggeridge’s night got better still when their B team came away from Townsend Social with a 3-2 win. Comprehensive wins for Ryan and Richard Evans, and Luke Whale’s victory gave them an unassailable lead before Josh Meese and Jason Jenns secured a frame apiece for Townsend.

Kinver Constitutional A bounced back from suffering their first defeat by taking all five frames on the tables of Amblecote Institute B. They lie 12 points off the top but do have two matches in hand. Lee Mallen preserved his unbeaten record but was pressed hard by Jon Moloughney.

On an adjoining table at Amblecote Institute, Lee Whitehouse compiled breaks of 53 and 44 for the D team, and Ian Priest won for them too, but the Institute’s A team came out on top 3-2, Mike Richards, Carl Butcher & Jon Wellings combining for yet another good result for the team.

Finally, in another close match, St John’s Social just edged past Bearwood Cons at home. Simon Thomas, Martin Coffey and Nick Carson, who took the black against Jordan Macdivitt, won for them, with Reece Bahia and Paul Gibson replying for the visitors.

First Division

Kinver Constitutional C extended their lead at the top of the league to 5 points after defeating Old Edwardians A 4-1. Tom Postings won his 6th frame out of 7, and Les Cross, Ryan Bridgewood and Steve Nicholls completed the result although Callum Upton was pipped on the black by Ed Davies.

Kinver’s closest rivals are Amblecote RBL, whose players have made the amicable switch from Old Edwardians, and they emerged from a difficult home match 3-2 victors against Kingswinford B. Steve Bull, and Joe Hawkes, who made his debut for the visitors, inflicting the first defeat on Brett Ball, put Kingswinford 2-0 ahead, but Steve and Scott Ball levelled the score, both having to pot the final black, before Sam Ball ran away with the decider.

Scott Taylor won again for Kinver’s E team in their local “derby” against their D team, but that proved to be their only frame as Dan and Chris Barker, Kelly Stanley & Jamie Williams secured a 4-1 success for their opponents.

Holidays and illness caused the postponement of Kingswinford A v Amblecote Institute C and Norton Social B v Stourbridge Institute A while Stourbridge’s D team had a bye.

----- Week 7 RoundUp (22nd/23rd Oct) -----

Premier Division

There’s no change at the top of the table as the joint leaders both won 4-1. Stourbridge Institute, defending their title, inflicted the first defeat of the season on Kinver Constitutional A, on their own tables. Karl Ashmore, with a break of 66, gained a little revenge on Gavin Sloan who held the upper hand when they contested last season’s Premier Singles final, and Ashley Aston, David Oakes & Justin Donoghue extended the Institute’s advantage to 4-0, before Lee Mallen, with the week’s highest break of 74, defeated Ash Sidaway to salvage a point for Kinver.

Pockets SC A, the other joint leaders, came away from Amblecote Institute D with their own 4-1 victory. Adam Ness & Gary Smith gave them a good start, and Andy Smith won decisively for his 7th win in as many frames, but Neil Gilder was taken to the final pink by virtue of a good effort by Neil Saunders.

Dave Green, with a break of 45, Sam Robbins & Hasib Hussain combined to secure a 3-2 success for Hotshots SC at home to Townsend Social, which lifted them into 3rd place, seven points off the top, and Baggeridge Social B bounced back from their defeat at Stourbridge Institute to beat Amblecote Institute B 3-2, with wins for Luke Whale and the Evans brothers, Richard and Ryan, who had a break of 64.

Bearwood Cons’ Jordan Macdivitt and Adam Boswell maintained their good form away to Amblecote Institute A, but the hosts continued their fine start to the season with their 4th win thanks to Jordan Taylor, Carl Butcher & Jon Wellings in the deciding frame.

Norton Social A’s Steve Tsang made a winning debut for the team, with a black ball finish against Kinver B’s Andy Sloan, and Paul Bowen, Andrew Brown and Graham Tomkins went on to seal a 4-1 home win, with Keith Rollinson replying for the visitors.

Another player to make his Stourbridge debut was St John’s Social’s Martin Lippitt, although he has a wealth of Kidderminster and Bridgnorth League experience on which to call, and he helped his team to a 5-0 success on the tables of near neighbours, Pockets SC B, the highlight being the excellent break of 66 on his first visit to the table by Simon Thomas in a high quality frame against Gareth Ward.

Baggeridge Social A had a bye.

First Division

Five high-scoring victories had lifted Kinver Constitutional C 7 points clear at the top of the First Division, but they lost their first match away to Stourbridge Institute A 3-2. Steve Nicholls had looked sure to take the deciding frame until Mike Moon got the snooker he required on the pink, and he went on to take the frame on the black. Earlier Tom Postings and Les Cross had won for Kinver, with Phil Fitzpatrick, who had a run of 37, and Jon Saunders replying for Stourbridge.

Kinver’s lead was trimmed to 4 points when Amblecote Royal British Legion, having completed an amicable move from Old Edwardians, won 4-1 at home to Kinver’s D team. Brett Ball extended his great run of form to six wins in as many frames, a record he shares with Kingswinford B’s Wayne Whitmore, who helped his team to a 4-1 success against Old Edwardians A.

To complete an excellent week for Stourbridge Institute, their D team also won, 4-1 at home to Kingswinford A. Dean Banks and Chris Crumpton won quite comfortably but Jamal Rashid & Paul Robinson were taken to the black by Tom Male & Tim Carter respectively. The visitors took the final frame when John Rees stepped out of premature retirement to defeat Carl Southwick in yet another black ball finish.

Illness caused the postponement of the Amblecote Institute C v Norton Social B tie, while Kinver E had a bye.

West Midlands Inter Town 1st Round

Both Stourbridge teams made it through to the last 16 of this competition. At Stourbridge Institute, the A team defeated Telford A 5-2, having been given the perfect start by Justin Donoghue, who had a break of 45, and Ashley Aston, with a 53. Lee Mallen and Rob Clark then made the result safe at 4-0 before Tom Maxfield and Matthew Davies won for Telford. Chris Jevons secured the final frame.

At Pockets SC, Stourbridge B defeated Bloxwich 6-1. The opening frames were shared when Tom Pepperall’s win was countered by Ryan Watton, but Stourbridge opened a 3-1 advantage through Adam Ness and Neil Gilder, who laid a fine snooker against Lee Bannister, before taking the last 12 reds and the first two colours for a break of 67. Lee Page, who had a 57 break, then extended the lead to 4-1, before Andy Smith and Jamie Shuck completed the match, which was played in the right spirit throughout, to the great credit of both teams.

----- Week 6 RoundUp (15th/16th Oct) -----

Premier Division

Defending champions, Stourbridge Institute took a significant step towards winning this season’s event by taking all five frames at home to Baggeridge Social B. Ashley Aston, who had a break of 54, Ash Sidaway, Dave Oakes, Justin Donoghue and Karl Ashmore all won although the latter was taken to the black by Luke Whale.

The Institute joined Pockets SC A at the top of the league although the leaders had a real struggle to beat Amblecote Institute D at home. The visitors’ Rich Brookes and Jon Wellings both won and Pockets were indebted to Andy Smith’s narrow win against Carl Butcher and Neil Gilder’s recovery to clear the colours against Mike Richards to level at 2-2 before Gary Smith took the decider against the hitherto unbeaten Darrell Payne.

Baggeridge Social A remained in third place thanks to Jamie Spence, Wayne Bentley and James Hill who made the game safe at home against Norton Social A, but the visitors deserve credit for taking the last two frames through Graham Tomkins and Paul Bowen, narrow winners against Eliott Bastable and Dave Hall respectively.

Fourth placed Hotshots SC resumed winning ways with a 4-1 victory on the tables of Amblecote Institute B. Hasib & Hasan Hussain gave them a great start and Dave Green clinched the win before Justin Matthews edged the last frame. Amblecote’s consolation came from Jon Moloughney, who defeated Sam Robbins.

In another closely-fought match, Amblecote Institute D did well to come away from Townsend Social with a 3-2 win. Lee Whitehouse, who took the black against Josh Meese, Neil Gennard and Warren Knight secured the first three frames before Jason Jenns and Paul Dandy, who had a break of 43, hit back for Townsend.

Bearwood Cons won their first match, 3-2 against Pockets SC B with Adam Boswell and Reece Bahia, who had runs of 30 and 38 in particularly impressive form. Jordan Macdivitt’s comeback against Darren Bott on a respotted black sealed the result, and Pockets had only the frames won by Nailey Price and Jamie Shuck as consolation.

The all-Kinver clash A v B was postponed because of holiday commitments.

First Division

Kinver Constitutional C maintained their impressive start to the season by taking all five frames at home to Amblecote Institute C thus extending their lead to seven points after five matches. They’ve dropped only four frames during this run, using a squad of 7 players, with Adam Sprague, Ryan Bridgewood and Tom Postings having won 4 frames each.

Second placed Old Edwardians B had a bye, and Stourbridge Institute A took advantage to draw level with a 3-2 success away to Old Eds’ A team. Robin Hall & Jon Saunders, who had ended Jat Chager’s 5 frame winning spree, had won for the Institute, with Paul Curry & Jamie Westwood replying for the hosts. Old Eds looked sure to take the decider until Leigh Bennett got the two snookers he needed on the pink, and then his opponent, Tim Purslow had the misfortune to go in-off the final black.

Norton Social B were able to celebrate their first win of the season, 3-2 at home to Stourbridge Institute D thanks to Steve Lewis, Scott Foster, who won his first frame on the black, and Ant Harmon. Dominic Bacciocchi and Chris Crumpton’s wins brought two consolation points for the visitors.

Wayne Whitmore made a break of 41 and he and Steve Bull established a 2-0 lead for Kingswinford B away to Kinver Constitutional D, only for Mitch Hines and Ash Stanley to level the scores. Rich Conway then won the decider to lift Kingswinford B into 4th place, 8 points behind the leaders.

Kingswinford A v Kinver E was postponed.

----- Week 5 RoundUp (8th/9th Oct) -----

Premier Division

The only league match not to end with a 3-2 scoreline came at Pockets Snooker Club where their A team extended their lead at the top of the division to two points with a 4-1 victory against Townsend Social. Tom Pepperall, Andy Smith, Neil Gilder & John Betton, with a 45 break, won for them with Jason Jenns potting the final black for the visitors’ frame.

Hotshots’ Callum Downing & Neil Beckley gave them a perfect start at home to second placed Stourbridge Institute, who are chasing their fifth successive championship, but Karl Ashmore, with a 72 break, Ashley Aston and Justin Donoghue turned the match around despite solid opposition.

The only unbeaten team, Kinver Constitutional A are poised in a share of third place, 4 points off the top, with a match in hand, having come through a difficult match, 3-2 against Baggeridge Social A. Gavin Sloan, with a break of 43, Lee Mallen with 40, and Graham Tranter, who inflicted the first defeat on James Hill, clinched the match for Kinver. Incidentally, 13 years ago James Hill helped Kinver to their only Premier Division title, with the most wins in the division for that season, 22/24.

Another player to lose for the first time was St John’s Simon Thomas, against Norton Social’s Graham Tomkins. Paul Bowen and Carl Webb, who had a break of 40, helped Norton to a 3-2 home victory.

Baggeridge Social B recovered from last week’s heavy defeat against their A team when Ryan Evans, Mart Collingridge & Matt Whale eased them to a 3-2 win at home to Kinver B for whom Andy Sloan and Mark Dowler earned some consolation.

Finally there were two narrow but useful results for Amblecote Institute: the B team just got the better of their own D team thanks to Mick Cook, Alan Moore & Jon Moloughney, while on adjoining tables their A team beat Pockets SC B 3-2. Carl Butcher, Mike Richards and Darrell Payne, who preserved his undefeated record, just did enough for this result, their 3rd win in 4 matches.

First Division

The leaders, Kinver Constitutional C maintained their unbeaten sequence, with a 4-1 success on the tables of Stourbridge Institute D, and they still have a single point advantage over their rivals. Tom Postings, Callum Upton, Adam Sprague & Ryan Bridgewood all won with Chris Crumpton replying for the hosts.

Old Edwardians B also enjoyed their own 4-1 victory against Kingswinford A to remain in second place. The Ball family, Steve, Sam, Jack & Brett, who is now unbeaten in 5 frames, secured victory with John Byng taking a consolation point for Kingswinford.

Kinver’s E team recovered from their 5-0 reverse against their C team to beat Norton Social B 3-2, thanks to Peter Matthews, Scott Taylor and Phil Dunn, who won his 4th decider of the season, clearing up the colours when all seemed lost against Steve Metcalfe-Taylor.

Kingswinford’s B team just edged past Stourbridge Institute A 3-2. After Wayne Whitmore & Bill Crowther gave them a good start, Rich Conway made sure of the result despite Jon Saunders and veteran local cricketer Gary Mills fighting back for the Institute.

Finally, in the clash between the two teams without a win between them at this early stage of the season, Old Edwardians A just did enough to take the match 3-2 away to Amblecote Institute C. Colin Homer and Mitch Skidmore won for the hosts but Paul Curry, Jamie Westwood & Jat Chager, who took his personal tally to 5 out of 5, were able to take the honours for the visitors.

----- Week 4 RoundUp (1st/2nd Oct) -----

Premier Division

The outstanding performance of the season to date came at Stourbridge Institute where Ashley Sidaway made a break of 113 against Amblecote Institute D’s Warren Knight. Ash failed on the final pink when a 126 clearance beckoned and his team ran out 4-1 winners, with Ian Priest taking a consolation frame for the visitors.

Pockets SC A eased to the top of the league, however, by taking all five frames on the tables of Amblecote Institute B, where Andy Smith extended his winning run to 4/4, and they are a point clear of Baggeridge Social A, who ended the unbeaten start of their own B team in no uncertain terms with a 5-0 victory, knocking them off the top spot. Bal Sembi made a couple of 40+ breaks and James Hill extended his unbeaten start, also 4/4.

Kinver Constitutional A retained their unbeaten record but that had looked in jeopardy away at St John’s Social who took the first two frames through Nick Carson and Simon Thomas. Lee Mallen, Paul Garbett & Gavin Sloan, in the decider against Martin Coffey, turned the match around. With a match in hand over their rivals, Kinver are three points off the top.

Norton Social A enjoyed their first win, 3-2 at Bearwood Cons, thanks to Paul Bowen, Graham Tomkins and Neil Rollinson, and Townsend Social secured their first win, 4-1 at home to Amblecote Institute A. Josh Meese and Jason Jenns gave them a great start, but Dave Hadley and Andy Docherty were taken to the final black by Jon Wellings & Mike Richards respectively. Darrell Payne, returning to his former club, won for Amblecote.

Hotshots SC maintained their upward progress to sit just 4 points behind the leaders with a 4-1 success away to Kinver’s B team. Dave Green, Justin Matthews and Hasan and Hasib Hussain put them 4-0 ahead before Mark Dowler claimed a useful point for Kinver.

First Division

Kinver E team’s good start to the season came to an abrupt end when they were trounced 5-0 by their own C team. Tom Postings, Adam Sprague, Callum Upton, Ryan Bridgewood and Rob Matthews took all five well-contested frames for the C team, who by also defeating their D team 3-2 in a rearranged match, were able to lift themselves into a single point lead at the top of the division.

Like Kinver C, Old Edwardians B were relegated from the Premier Division, but they eased into a share of second place with a 3-2 win away to Norton Social B. Sam Ball, Steve Ball and Brett Ball, who took his great start to 4/4 wins won for them, but the hosts gave them a good match and were rewarded with frames for Steve Metcalfe-Taylor and Ant Harman.

Dominic Bacciocchi & Jamal Rashid gave Stourbridge Institute D a good start away to Old Edwardians A, but Jat Chager & Matt Surmacz squared the match at 2-2 before Carl Southwick beat Tim Purslow in the decider to lift the Institute into a share of 2nd place.

There was also a good result for the Institute’s A team who defeated Amblecote Institute C 4-1, with the League’s President, Martin Harris, stepping into the team and he was able to celebrate his birthday with a win.

Kingswinford Club A have begun the season well with three wins, their latest a 4-1 home scoreline against Kinver’s D team. Tom Male, John Byng, Dave Reece and his son, Greg, who had a break of 36, maintained their team’s unbeaten run, with Marcus Hines securing a point for the visitors.

----- Week 3 RoundUp (24th/25th Sept) -----

Premier Division
Stourbridge Institute’s quest to win their fifth successive league title suffered a set-back when they lost 3-2 on the tables of Pockets SC A. Andy Smith, Neil Gilder & Tom Pepperall, in the deciding frame against Ashley Aston, secured the result, one which enabled Baggeridge Social B to ease to the top of the division.

In a closely-contested match Baggeridge B beat St John’s Social 3-2, thanks to Frankie Bennett, who did well to pip Martin Coffey on the black, Richard Evans & Matt Whale.

Kinver Constitutional A’s Lee Mallen had the highest break of the week, 65, just one more than his team-mate Mark Love, to add to comfortable wins for Gavin Sloan & Jim Woodhouse as they defeated Bearwood Cons 4-1, and they are poised to challenge for top spot.

The biggest win of the week was achieved by Amblecote Institute D who took all five frames against Kinver’s B team. Neil Gennard, Warren Knight, Lee Whitehouse, Simon Dingley & Ian Priest combined to produce their best result since they returned to the Premier Division in 2024.

Hotshots SC bounced back from their 5-0 reversal at St John’s by inflicting the first defeat on Baggeridge Social A thanks to Dave Green and Hasan and Hasib Hussain, and there were two encouraging first wins for both Amblecote Institute B & Pockets SC B.

The Institute visited Townsend Social, who took the first frame through Andy Docherty but then Mick Cook, Jon Moloughney, Alan Moore and Mark Colbourne turned the match around 4-1, while Pockets B managed to beat Norton Social A away 3-2. Nailey Price and Gareth Ward gave Pockets a great start and Darren Bott fought back well against Graham Tomkins in a high-quality frame to make it 3-0 for the visitors before Andrew Brown and Carl Webb took two deserved points for Norton.

First Division
Kinver Constitutional C began their campaign with a 4-1 win away to Old Edwardians B. Black ball successes for both Adam Sprague and Ryan Bridgewood countered the good start Brett Ball had given the hosts, and Tom Postings & Steve Nicholls took the last two frames.

Kinver’s E team are the early season leaders however after recording their third 3-2 victory in succession. Richard Payne, and the unbeaten pair, Scott Taylor & Phil Dunn just did enough to see off the challenge of Old Edwardians A, black ball deciders apparently becoming Phil’s speciality.

Kingswinford Club B beat Amblecote Institute C thanks to Bill Crowther, Wayne Whitmore and, in his debut for the team, Steve Mason, and Stourbridge Institute A won their local derby against their D team 3-2. Robin Hall, Mike Moon and Jon Saunders put them 3-0 ahead before Dean Banks and Paul Robinson each took frames in consolation.

----- Week 2 RoundUp (17th/18th Sept) -----

Premier Division
The outstanding performance of the week was achieved by St John’s Social Club, who took all five frames at home to Hotshots SC. Simon Thomas, Beamer Jones, Mick Brezwyn, Nick Carson and Martin Coffey, whose 52 break followed last week’s 50, were all successful in a well-contested match.

Amblecote Institute A followed up last week’s win at Norton with a 4-1 victory against their B team, the promoted champions from last season’s First Division. Mike Richards, Carl Butcher & Darrell Payne all were on target again and Jon Wellings’ black ball finish helped to lift them to a share of top-spot, albeit after only two matches.

Defending champions, Stourbridge Institute enjoyed a second 4-1 success, this time at home to Townsend Social. Ashley Aston, with a break of 67, Ash Sidaway with 58 and Justin Donoghue with 46 all won again, with Dave Oakes making it 4-0 before Jason Jenns took a consolation frame for the visitors.

Both Baggeridge clubs remained unbeaten. The A team defeated Amblecote Institute D 4-1 with Eliott Bastable, five times Premier singles champion, making a winning return to the team, while the B team were pressed hard at Bearwood Cons before Ryan and Richard Evans and Dave Whale secured a 3-2 win.

Kinver Constitutional A, last season’s runners up, who had a bye in the first week, opened their campaign with a 5-0 win away to Pockets SC B. Jim Woodhouse, Mark Love, Lee Mallen, Graham Tranter and singles’ champion Gavin Sloan all won comfortably. Kinver’s B team, who had an encouraging win at Townsend the previous week, lost 5-0 at home to Pockets A: Andy & Gary Smith, Tom Pepperall, Lee Page and John Betton, whose opponent Rob Jeffries went in-off the black, all won.

First Division
Two matches were postponed, so there were only three fixtures completed. Kinver Constitutional E, just as they did in the first week, lost the two opening frames away to Stourbridge Institute A but again recovered to win 3-2. Phil Fitzpatrick and Robin Hall gave the Institute a great start but Peter Matthews and Scott Taylor levelled the scores before Phil Dunn pipped Gary Mills on the black in the decider.

Kingswinford Club A just edged out their B team 3-2 to register their second win. Dave Reece, Tim Carter and John Byng just did enough to secure victory, with Wayne Whitmore and Steve Bull replying.

Stourbridge Institute D lost their opening match 3-2 at home to Kingswinford B but they made up for that lapse by taking all five frames on the tables of Amblecote Institute C. Dean Banks, Jamal Rashid, Paul Robinson, Chris Crumpton, with a break of 32, and Carl Southwick, taken to the black by Gerald Lyons, took Stourbridge to a the top of the division, a position they share with Kingswinford A and Kinver E at this very early stage.

----- Week 1 RoundUp 10th/11th Sept) -----

Premier Division
Stourbridge Institute began their quest for their fifth successive championship with a 4-1 win on the tables of Amblecote Institute B. Ash Sidaway, Chris Jevons, Justin Donoghue & Ash Aston all won with Jon Moloughney taking a consolation frame for the hosts, newly promoted to the top division. Baggeridge Social proved too strong for Pockets SC, their A team winning 3-2 away to Pockets A, thanks to David Hall, Maria Catalano & James Hill, while their B team took all five frames at home to Pockets B, the only maximum points haul of the week. League newcomers, St John’s Social went 2-0 ahead away to Amblecote Institute D through Simon Thomas and the impressive Martin Coffey, who had breaks of 50 & 33, but Warren Knight, Simon Dingley and Ian Priest fought back to win for the home team.Hotshots SC began with a 4-1 victory at home to Bearwood Cons, with Callum Downing having a break of 58, and Jaden Billingham making 57 in his first league match. Amblecote Institute A did very well to win 4-1 away to Norton Social A. Carl Butcher won decisively while Mike Richards, Rich Brookes & Darrell Payne took more closely-contested frames. Neil Rollinson secured a consolation point for the hosts. Kinver Constitutional B earned promotion from the First Division and they were able to celebrate a topflight win at their first attempt in a tight match at Townsend Social Club. Norman Jennings and Rob Jeffries only won narrowly, but Chris Randle had a decisive win before Rich Crowley & Jason Jenns took a frame apiece for Townsend.

First Division
Stourbridge Old Edwardians B beat their neighbours, Stourbridge Institute A 3-2, thanks to Jack Ball, Brett Ball, who made a break of 47 and Sam Ball with a 35 in the decider. Jon Saunders & Gary Mills replied for the Institute Old Eds’ A team fared less well however when they lost 4-1 away to Kinver Constitutional D. Jat Chager won their only frame after Chris & Dan Barker and Mitch & Marcus Hines had taken the first four. Both Kingswinford Club teams opened with victories. Last season’s singles champion Wayne Whitmore had breaks of 41 and 30 for the B team at Stourbridge Institute D, and Steve & Alex Bull then secured a 3-2 win, while the A team just got the better of Norton Social B. Tim Carter and John Byng won well, but John Cowan was taken to the black by Scott Foster. Stephen Metcalfe-Taylor and Steve Lewis won for the visitors.
