|6.09.20. Current government Covid Advice
Current Government restrictions for socialising
If you’re meeting up with someone outside of your household, you still need to keep your distance.
If you’re meeting up inside, it should only be two households together, no more. This includes the pub and eating out.
If you see someone else you know when you're in the pub, for example, you can't interact socially with them.
If you’re meeting outside it’s no more than six people from different households. You can have more than six people but only if everyone is from exclusively from two households or support bubbles
If you’re going to someone’s house it can only be your household and theirs – and keep a distance while you’re there.
You can only stay overnight, away from home, with one other household
Full details are published and updated on the Government website.
25.8.20 Below is an extract of some of the requirements needed comply with covid19 restrictions to play league snooker.
League Format Adjustments
As stated above, clubs in England that wish to host local league competitions, including visiting teams, can
do so from 1 August 2020, provided the club can offer a COVID-19 secure environment and can safely
adopt the guidelines contained in this document.
We know that leagues across the country have a huge variety in format. Each league should consider its
format so that it complies with the current UK Government guidelines, which states that only two different
households can meet in any indoor space.
Based on these current guidelines, we recommend that leagues apply the following principles:
• Each league match should be pre-scheduled so that players on both teams know what time they
are required to play, which player they will play and which table they will play on
• League teams should be advised to stagger arrival and leaving times of individual players, scheduled
• Any players not involved in matches, spectators, parents or guardians should be seated in
designated areas away from the match tables, while also strictly observing social distancing
• League formats should be adjusted, where necessary, to ensure players do not compete against
more than one opponent during a single session
• Leagues should schedule fixtures to avoid clubs hosting multiple matches where social distancing
between tables cannot be observed
• Competitive doubles matches/rubbers are not permitted, until further notice
• Refereeing or marking of matches is not permitted, until further notice
• There should be no presentations or other activities that would encourage a gathering of people
Players should wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before leaving home and
sanitise their hands before and after play.
Participants are encouraged to follow best practice for travel including minimising use of public transport
and limiting car sharing. Walk or cycle if you can. People from a household or support bubble can travel
together in a vehicle. See the government’s safer travel guidance for passengers for further information.
Players must not enter the club if they are symptomatic or living with someone who has a possible
confirmed case of COVID-19 – please read the ‘Pre-attendance Symptom Check’, above.
At the club…
All players shall abide by the following protocols throughout their time in the venue:
• Social distancing between players should be maintained at all times, in line with the latest UK
Government advice on staying alert and safe (social distancing)
• Players will be encouraged to bring their own cues from home
• Player seating will be at least two metres apart
• Players will have access to hand sanitiser at all tables, entrances and toilets
• All players will be allocated their own set of table accessories to minimise contact, and will be
responsible for fetching and returning this equipment to its position in the club
• Strictly no handshakes or physical contact between players
• Avoid unnecessarily touching club surfaces, and minimise sharing touch points such as triangles and
• Prior to re-entering the club, after any toilet breaks or intervals, players will be requested to
perform hand washing for 20 seconds with soap and water in addition to using a hand sanitiser
• Players should use their own cue, chalk and cue towel, and not leave these on the table
• Players must pack up and leave the designated table at the end of the match/rubber before the
next two players approach the table
• Players must avoid congregating around the table before or after play to allow access for others
• All table accessories and equipment used will be sanitised after each match/rubber
• Sharing food or drink is not permitted
23.8.20 Hello Everyone, I hope you and your families stayed well during these strange times. I haven't put any specific dates for having meetings or restarting until everyone is comfortable with it. My thoughts would be when restarting to complete the unfinished season first.
On the documents page is the pdf for guidance to restarting league snooker, which is quite involved in itself. What I would like to know is what everyone thinks to restarting league snooker, in the next month or so ( only if the restrictions for playing are relaxed) . Would your team have enough players willing to play? If teams have players understandably unwilling to play for health reasons, so couldn't have a team it would be pointless trying to restart to early.
30.7.20. Covid 19 Guidance and restrictions for restarting League Snooker pdf on the documents page.
Sacred Heart club are reopening on Friday 14th August.
9.7.20 Covid 19 Safety guidelines for snooker clubs pdf On the documents page.

The Conny Club will be open from tomorrow evening Thursday 9th July with restrictions on the snooker tables and Danny has asked me to say Potshots will open on Monday 13th July 12 noon. I have also been told the Bronze club will open on 20th July. If there are any changes to these dates or let me know when your club is open I will post on here.
7.7.20 Update that snooker clubs can now open provided correct safety measures and guidance is in place and followed, please see this link. https://wpbsa.com/wpbsa-epsb-statement-on-the-re-opening-of-uk-snooker-clubs/
Further update 1.7.20 regarding club snooker, Danny has since heard that Snooker and pool cannot currently take place, so Potshots will NOT be open on the 6th July 2020. See this link- https://wpbsa.com/wpbsa-epsb-statement-30th-june/
Update 30.06.20. Danny has asked me to let everyone know Potshots will be opening on Monday 6th July 12 noon, with safety measures in place to comply with all the covid 19 government advice. I believe some other clubs are still looking at situation with regard to the opening of the snooker rooms to comply with all the safety legislation. As soon as I know clubs are open I will arrange a meeting.
Hello everyone, I hope you and all your families stayed safe and are well. My personal thoughts for an end to the current season would be to play the remaining 5 weeks of this season at the beginning of next season and then immediately continue with season 2020-21, possibly playing the finals for both seasons at the end. We need to have a committee meeting when safe to do so to discuss all options available. Before anything the clubs snooker rooms have to reopen. Because some people maybe reluctant to play again for a while I would appreciate any feedback with all your thoughts on it. Thanks

After Friday February 7th Committee meeting, and an overwhelming vote from all the league's team secretary's the Century club have been expelled from the league immediately. For bringing the Wallasey Snooker Association into disrepute, Continual late payment of levies, not fulfilling league fixtures. The Committee agreed that any Century players who are still in any PAID for competitions can still play, as this is in line with a previous occasion. The league table has been updated, as all results against Century will be null and void. Century's fixture is now a bye week for those team's still to play them.

A point regarding the individual competitions. It is the responsibility of the home player to arrange the fixture as stated on the competition notes. You cannot just leave your game to the scratch night and expect your opponent to be there without contact or even arranging a time. It is down to the home player as you need to check with your club to make sure they have a table available for you to play. Plenty of notice is given when the draw is made and between rounds, sheets are also handed out to each club to be put on your notice board. In the interest of sportsmanship away players can also contact the opponent to arrange a suitable date, but the responsibility for the game is with the home player. If you need a contact number for your opponent then please ring or message me: Lance 07828900224 Please keep any messages or call logs if you have tried to organise your game in event of a dispute
Due to a unforeseen circumstance's, tonight's meeting Friday 1st November 2019 at 7.30pm. meeting has had to be cancelled. We realise that this is short notice and apologise to league members. Further details will be given as soon as possible
All division cup fixtures are now online. For teams that are playing on the 25th nov, please check you individual competitions as cup game falls on a scratch night as explained at the last meeting. Please arrange to play your individual games before the scratch night
Congratulations to Chris Hesketh for a nice 100 Break in what looks to have been a great game against Craig who also had a 47 Break.

FRIDAYS 4th OCT MEETING IS CANCELLED due to my family reasons, I will try to hold it the following Friday 11th circumstances permitting. I will try to keep the results updated asap. Sorry for short notice. Lance will update clubs and website with competitions asap.
Can all Captains please make sure all matches are played to a finish (the black ball) and not conceded part way through, even if the match is potentially won, as we play aggregate points and individual handicaps are based on that figure, as we want as accurate handicaps as possible so it doesn't help if points are given away.

Some information regarding Central Cons, as a team, they will not ask for any of their matches to be postponed & will not therefore accept any requests to postpone.
On behalf of the Central Cons team.

15.Matches cannot be postponed except in extenuating circumstances which may be accepted by the Secretary and Executive Committee, if not excepted match points are to be awarded to the non-defaulting team. Postponed matches must be played before either the last league match before any due handicap meeting or the final league fixture.
34. All fixtures must be played. (For the purpose of this rule a minimum number of players constituting a team shall be FOUR) Any team failing to complete their league fixtures or not notifying their opponents that they will not be able to attend on a match night, will have TWO points deducted from their record. Sad new that Alun Avery has passed away peacefully at home. Alun played for Seacombe Cons for many years, then latterly played at Wallasey Central Cons club, in a few teams. Alun's funeral is at Landican Centre Chapel Wednesday 25th September, 11am
On the Documents page I've put pdfs of the first ever Wallasey Snooker Championship in 1924 and the names of the 32 players who entered which started on 2nd February 1924, it was played alongside the Billiards Championship, took place in the Billiard Room at the New Brighton Tower. There is also a cartoon of the players and officials. I hope you enjoy looking back at our history almost 100 years ago, it took me a lot of time and research to find these items. I have a couple more billiard results from 1912 I will put on soon.
Adam Noonan has very kindly sent me a nice little excel program to work on a smart phone, that will form a match card with all teams and players on a drop down list together with handicaps which will automatically total up handicaps and scores, as a check to confirm the card details. There maybe some late registration players names omitted though until they are added. Anyone who wants it let me know and I will send it to you, or contact Adam. But in case of any recent changes of handicaps it will need to be checked with the website handicaps as they will be correct.
If you wish to receive weekly league updates and other info. Register you email address on the Subscribe page link above, your email is not used for anything else only to get Wallasey updates, if you wish for an email address to be deleted let me know.
All Wallasey competition entry forms and fees have to be returned at Fridays Meeting, some competition draws may take place after the meeting.
A sample NEW result card is on the pictures page.
Next Committee Meeting is Friday 6th September 2019 at 7.30pm. Fixture books and the NEW Style result cards will be given out to each team representative at this meeting. The Committee has decided due to the small number of Clubs now in the League, that a representative for EVERY team shall attend each monthly Committee Meeting, failure of any team to attend would mean a TWO point deduction for the team concerned, this rule includes the September meeting and each monthly meeting after.
All fixtures and individual player handicaps are now on the website, the season starts on Tuesday and Thursday 10th and 12th September 2019
Next Committee Meeting is Friday 2nd August 2019 at 7.30pm. The Committee has decided due to the small number of Clubs now in the League, that a representative for EVERY team shall attend each monthly Committee Meeting, failure of any team to attend would mean a TWO point deduction for the team concerned.
To clarify the Century proposal (only No. !) that was passed at the AGM. the full proposal PDF is now back on the documents page
Next Meeting is Friday 12th July 2019 at 7.15pm, this is to discuss the individual handicaps, as in previous handicap meetings 1 rep per team may attend. A Committee Meeting will follow the handicap meeting at hopefully around 8.30pm. I will use the website aggregate scores records to format a handicap for all the players that I have records for.
Update from the AGM, Individual Handicaps proposal was passed and will now be used to form the team handicap. This is to enable teams to sign players on but not be penalised by a team handicap if unable to play. So each player will be allocated a 1 frame handicap which will have to be entered on the result card then all 6 totalled up and then doubled to get the team handicap for that league match, with no change to the current method of playing the matches, so still playing off scratch as previously.
Wallasey Competition entry forms are on the documents page these will have to be returned by the September Meeting together with entry fees.
Victorious 2019 Merseyside B team info and photos on the pictures page.
