on Thursday, September 17, 2009 WITH ALL THE CONFUSION WITH THE HANDICAPS AND PAUL FLANAGAN HAVING THE BURDEN OF SORTING OUT ALL THE HANDICAPS EVERY 4 OR 5 WEEKS . WHY DONT WE SORT THE HANDICAPS OUT AT THE MONTHLY MEETING ? THIS WAY THERE IS A PERSON FROM EVERY CLUB IN THE LEAGUE PRESENT EVERY ONE CAN AGREE AND EVERY ONE IS HAPPY . ALSO ANY NEW PLAYER'S STARTING HAVE THEM START OFF -7 THEN REVALUATE THERE HANDICAP AFTER 4 WEEKS THIS WAY IT IS FAIR ON EVERY ONE CONCERNED . LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU ALL THINK . on Saturday, September 19, 2009 Hi Rob This is the way the handicaps used to be done, before the computerised system came into place. The "everyone can agree and everyone is happy" never happened when this was the way they were done. I (personally) dont think it would be fair to put all new players off -7, because if they're handicap is very wrong (ie should be +21, +28), then they would be well beaten every week, and the captains of teams would be reluctant to even play the person, therefore stopping any statistics being in their favour when it come to the review. We should be able to trust peoples opinions/judgements on handicaps, and often when new players join the league, they've been seen in other leagues already and can therefore get a fair handicap to start with. Of course, this is all just my opinion!!! cheers ste |
