on Friday, September 19, 2014 As a few of you already know , Mike Allen passed away last Wednesday evening. In between the first and second frames of his match, Mike collapsed and died very suddenly. Despite the amazing efforts of the emergency services they were unable to bring him round. Until this season Mike has been captain of the Shoeburyness Conservative Club A Team for many years. Mike was one of the founder members of our team back in the early 80's along with myself and four other members of the current team. As you can imagine with our 30+ years playing together, this has come as a tremendous shock to all of us, we have been a very close team. It was suggested that the league have a break for a week as a sign of respect but our team would like to meet up again next week and get the snooker back under way. However, I would ask the team captains to maybe say some words and have a few moments of silence at 7.30 next Wednesday.
