Player A leaves the pink on the brink of a pocket, ball doesn't drop, player A walks away.
Player B approaches the table, as he is half way down into his shot, the pink falls in the pocket.

A foul was called and 6 points awarded to Player A.

Great debate but nobody was sure what the ruling is, 3 seconds was mentioned, but others claimed this had now been overuled.

Answers on a postcard please.

Unless the ball dropping was caused by Player B's actions (e.g, clattering into the table) it is NOT a foul in these circumstances. The pink ball is replaced and Player B plays the next shot without penalty.

There is no time limit specified in the rules, only the word "momentarily", as in "if a ball balances momentarily on the edge of a pocket........."
