Dave Whitworth rang a professional referee. Its called the vibration rule.

If a ball suddenly drops into a pocket it should be replaced onto the table. It is not a foul.

Also a) the opposing player had no right to call a foul.
b) The referee should have not been influenced by any one else watching.

We are only amateurs playing in the Wed league, so we are going to make errors, so no hard feelings.
Dave feels the frame should be voided, but I can't see that will achieve anything, however I am happy for Keith to decide.

On a much more important note our condolences to Ambleside A and all of those who knew Kevin.

So sad.

We cannot retrospectively void frames based on mistakes by a referee (even the professional referees make mistakes and these do not alter the eventual result). Fully agree with the comment that we are only amateurs and we all need to remember this fact

This circumstance is very much uncommon and I agree with Keith's previous suggestion that all captains should have access to the latest set of rules - either being posted up within the club or else carried around with the other paraphernalia the captain takes to each match!

I have read through the rules and unfortunately like any such document there is an element of interpretation therefore does cause the odd minor contradiction

In the event of a dispute then the captains need to sort out on the night

Cheers

Hi chaps,

I think we are all agreed about this except maybe for one person.
I hope Ray you can give Dave a cuddle but make clear we cannot change what has been agreed by referee and captains on the night. And moving on we have also made provisions to try and stop this sort of mistake happening in the future.

And the 5th official got it bang on last night with the Olympiakos second goal! :)

Cheers

Keith
