2023 AGM

For those who were unable to attend the 2023 AGM, here is a brief description of its main points.

Rule Changes

Rules 6 - The maximum (previously 2) numbers of frames conceeded for each 15 minute period was removed and a note added to confirm that any match not played due to a captains error such as failure to book the table etc. will result in a walkover.

Rule 8 - Signing players during the season must be done in writing to the Treasurer and the player cannot play until payment of the fee is confirmed and a further 2 days have ellapsed.

Rule 24 - The £1 per match fee is no longer applicable. Team and Competition fees will increase for season 2024-25 to:-
£10 Player registration
£5 Competition entry.

Rule 24 - The minimum number of players in the Jeff Allan trophy has increased to 4 with no player to play more than 1 singles frame.

Other Points

Pete Brett has resigned as stand in secretary and chairman. No replacement put themself forward so if anybody is willing to take this role, please let us know.

Josh announced that he will be no longer standing as Treasurer following the coming season and similarly Graham as Fixtures Secretary after the 2024-25 season. Anyone willing to fill these roles should put themselves forward at the 2024 AGM.

Referees- It was asked that any players willing to referee finals to please let the Fixture Secretary know at some time during the season.

As all league rules are freely available on the website, any questions directed to a comittee member which is covered within the rules will just receive a note as to which rule covers it by way of an answer.

Reg Baylis Charity Money - Please will captains collect the £5 entry fee from their players and hand it to Graham during the season

A couple of points of player conduct were raised.
Will onlookers and referees please try to avoid discussing or otherwise advising players of impending fouls or tactical advice. Should a player hear such comments, please feel free to announce that this is the case but the information will be ignored and the shot will be continued as planned (in a similar way as self declaring a foul etc.)

Please note that rules regarding frame concession are fairly clear. A player does not conceed a frame, he or she offers a concession to their opponent and it is up to the opponent whether to accept or continue the frame. Should a player in any way prevent this option, they are deemed to have lost the frame through ungentlemany conduct and the remaining points are added to the opponents score (8 for each red remaining + the remaining colours). In the case of an aggregate competition such as the Colwall Cup, a player offering a concession is doing so for the entire match not just the frame in progress (similar to failing to complete a leg in a relay race). The rules for the Upton cup will be clarified according at the 2024 AGM.
